No, you must download the GP Cabal Client from the web http://www.gamespirate.com.
Then install it and before you do it turn off your antivirus and firewall to let the launcher update

erm. hi smurfy.
i tried reinstalling and update only.
but after i clicked start cabal, nth came out! so omg.
i off[ed] my AV and firewall too. =]

i think you can try to look at at the stickys put up in the guides area. there are posts regarding about this matter also. maybe it will help you solve your problem.
